Educational opportunities are available for adults. Sunday’s activities take place between the two services (from 9:15 to 10:05), allowing people from both services to participate.

The Gathering Group

Meeting Sundays at 9:15 AM in the parish library, The Gathering Group is a casual organization with a broad range of topical discussions and very little formality or agenda. It is an ideal place for guests and new members of the parish to meet people and get answers to questions about Saint David’s Church and programs. Sample church topics of discussion include:

  • Saint David's Programs
  • Christian Formation (open discussion)
  • Rector’s Sessions (chat with the rector on topics of interest)
  • Prayer Book 101(basic information about our liturgy)

Adult Sunday School Class

An adult Sunday class (“The Seekers”) study and work through a chosen book on Sundays at 9:15 AM.

The current book study (early 2018) is Pray Like Jesus: Rediscovering The Lord’s Prayer, by Don Underwood.

Bible Study

Everyone is welcome to join our weekly Bible Study group which meets on Wednesday evenings in the church parlor at 7:00 p.m. The class is designed for those who are studying the Bible for the first time and also for those who are very familiar with it.  The class is structured so that if one or more classes are missed, people will not feel that they have "fallen behind."

Wednesday morning Bible study

Wednesday morning Bible Study is held jointly with members of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Gales Ferry. We meet in the conference room of St. Luke Church Wednesdays between 10:30 and 11:30 AM, and we are thankful for this opportunity to get to know our brothers and sisters in Christ at St. Luke who attend this Bible study.

We study scriptures from the church Lectionary and we have some great discussions. On the second Wednesday of the month, members of the St. David’s group meet for lunch following Bible study. The bible study is attended by both men and women; new members are always welcome to this wonderful midweek spiritual life opportunity.

Tuesday morning women's group

Early risers will love the food and book discussions. This group NORMALLY meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7:00 a.m. in the library.

We must no longer be children, tossed to and fro and blown about by every wind of doctrine, by people’s trickery, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming. But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into the head, in Christ.
— Ephesians 4: 14,15
