Our Interim Rector ::

The Rev. Blake H. Wamester began his interim service with us in July, 2010. He will be with us during this time of transition as we search for a new rector. Father Blake, as he prefers to be called, was born and raised in Connecticut. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson Sr. High School in Middletown, CT and Augustana College, Rock Island, IL, with a major in speech and communications. He did some student teaching on the secondary level, and, for a period of time, worked for a CBS affiliate in Rock Island.

In 1971, Fr. Blake graduated from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, was ordained and went into the parish ministry. Since then he has served in parishes in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut for a total of 39 years in the ministry. He is married to the Rev. Karen DeWerth-Wamester, who is also a Lutheran pastor, serving as an interim at the First Congregational Church of Griswold.

All together they have four daughters, two of whom are also Lutheran pastors, one in Pennsylvania and the other in South Carolina; another daughter in Pennsylvania who works in the pharmaceutical industry, and one in Massachusetts who is an elementary school teacher. They have been blessed with 7 grandchildren (six boys and 1 girl) ranging from 12-18 years of age.

Father Blake is excited to be serving at St. David’s as the interim rector, and is looking forward to working with the congregation and serving Christ in this place during this time of transition.
